Often the reason someone reaches out for nutrition help is to lose weight/reduce body fat.
The most obviously way to measure progress is a scale, clothing sizes and or pictures.
However there are so many non-scale victories that come from taking steps towards improving your diet... but sometimes we get caught up in the numbers.
What is a Non-Scale Victory?
A Non-Scale Victory is any improvement you see in your health or well-being as a result of your efforts that isn't measure by a scale or size.
It's easy to get caught up in the end goal or the aesthetic goal so I try to really remind my clients and myself the importance of celebrating these non-scale victories.
On two occasions this past week I had clients tell me that a cookie didn't have them the same "effect" it used to... a sure sign of an improved relationship with food! Also a client sent me a picture of her lifting a heavy cooler on her camping trip which she was able to proudly lug around 💪
When we start eating better and becoming more mindful of what we consume, we are able to perform better and think about food differently.
If you are on a health journey, I encourage you to think of all your non-scale victories as they ultimately will bring you a level of joy so much deeper than any number on a scale or size will.
Here are a few examples. These are some of mine:
🏆 Treating food as fuel and not as a source of emotional comfort but also never feeling guilty if I choose to eat an ice cream
🏆 Being able to do functional daily movements better as a result of getting stronger
🏆 Having WAY more energy
🏆 Feeling confident and not worried about other people's opinions of me
🏆 Someone referred to me as "oh your Steph, blank's athlete friend" and I literally thought she mistaken and was talking about someone else until I realized she wasn't 😂

If taking an approach to your goals like this seems like your style, then let's work together. I'd love to help you realize how awesome you really are and that health is so much more than a number on a scale.
